I was attracted to this tree, found along another North Carolina highway one fall. It was bare except for dried-up vines all over it, and was a little eerie, but beautiful. I believe it was a sycamore. I loved it, so I painted it.

I love the beauty and serenity of the mountains. I captured this scene while exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway.

It has taken me many years to finally paint this house, which I found tucked away on a very rural road in the North Carolina mountains.

The girl in the painting is Dorian, my niece, with my dog, Willie. Dori is grown up now, and so is Willie. Not for sale.

I haven't painted portraits in a long while, but have done a few commissions recently, reviving my interest in the genre. It's challenging, but also very exciting and enjoyable.

This tree was located next to the now demolished library in downtown Miami's Bayfront Park. I wish I knew for certain  what kind of tree it is, but my best guess would be ceiba. It has a gigantic trunk and is quite beautiful. I hope it's still there.

This is my favorite painting of all time. I no longer have it, as it is sold, but it has a very good home. I took liberties with the color, as the barn in its natural state was quite dilapidated and a washed-out gray. Not being happy with the drabness, I used a blue and purple glaze, and it came to life. It is from a photo-taking trip, one of many, to North Carolina's rural areas. Thanks for checking it out.

This abandoned house near Burnsville, North Carolina was tucked away off a small road, and I fell in love with it, especially the outlandish roof! I painted four different views, and enjoyed every minute of it.

I find that there is great mystery in windows and doorways. It is one of my favorite things to paint.

I "captured" this leaning structure along a highway in North Carolina while on a photo-taking journey. I believe it was a grocery store abandoned many years before. Years later, I was very surprised, and pleased, that it was still standing, although leaning ever more closely to the ground.

Meandering in mountain woods is as close to being in heaven that I can ever imagine.

Today's painting, 1000 N.Miami Avenue, is one I had never really thought of doing until recently. It's from a relic photograph of my father's tailor shop in Miami, Florida taken in the1940s. I was inspired by my cousin's snapshot while rummaging through a box with old mementos. The people shown are close relatives. - It's an 11' X14" oil on canvas. It is not for sale.

Today's painting, from my acrylic collage body of work, is entitled Cityscape, and is on 30" X 30" gallery-wrapped canvas.

I've been very busy all day working on small oil paintings, and I have three in various stages. Great day!

Bad Hair Day is from a collection entitled Faces in the Crowd, whimsical renderings in pen & ink, that I work on from time to time, as a way of relaxing and commenting on every day happenings almost anyone can relate to.

The original sketch is not available, but
9" X 12" limited edition prints can be purchased for $12.00. Makes a great gift.

Sea Grape Trees at Fuchs Park, acrylic on Masonite, 24" X 36".
Sea Grapes are my favorite of all tropical trees, and I love painting them. Fuch's Park is a small park along U.S. One in South Miami, and is a welcome respite in an over-traveled, over-trafficked area.

Today's painting, Hay for Sale, 24" X 32", acrylic on Masonite, is an old abandoned place along the road in the North Carolina mountains. I just love the old textured wood and crumbling tar-paper siding.

Along a road in Athens, Georgia, I saw this terrific scene and took several photos from which I painted this picture. It was always one of my favorites, and is in a private collection.

Happy New Year.
This painting, acrylic on Masonite, was done a few years ago when I was in Rome, Georgia. I was  walking in the woods near my friend's house and came upon this gorgeous scene, and I just had to paint it. It is in a private collection.
