An important asset to South Florida, mangrove trees help to protect the coastline from erosion, and are an environmental habitat. It is able to exist in salty water, as it can convert it to fresh water for its own use. Its root system makes new land. I found these trees at Matheson Hammock, a wonderful park in Miami.
